What is Esophageal Cancer?

Esophageal cancer is a type of cancer that occurs in the esophagus. The esophagus is a muscular tube that runs from the mouth to the stomach and is a pathway through which food passes before the stomach. Esophageal cancer usually begins with abnormal growth of cells in the inner wall of the esophagus and turns into cancer cells over time. This type of cancer is generally more common in older ages and in men.
